Terms of Service

By downloading, installing, or using the Èdè app, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Èdè. We may update these Terms from time to time, and your continued use of the app after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

Èdè is a Yoruba language learning application that provides interactive lessons, pronunciation scoring, spaced repetition review, and AI-powered conversation practice. The service is available on iOS.

We reserve the right to modify, update, or discontinue any feature of the service at any time with reasonable notice.

You must sign in using Sign in with Apple to use Èdè. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your Apple ID and for all activities that occur under your account.

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. By creating an account, you represent that you meet this age requirement.

You agree not to create an account on behalf of someone else or share your account credentials with any third party.

Èdè offers a free tier with daily usage limits and a paid Premium tier at $7.99/month with expanded limits and additional features. Specific limits and features for each tier are described within the app and on our website.

• Free tier: All lessons and vocabulary, 10 speaking practices per day, 20 AI conversations per day, spaced repetition review, and progress tracking.
• Premium tier: Everything in Free, plus 100 speaking practices per day, 200 AI conversations per day, visual pitch waveform comparison, and priority AI corrections.

We reserve the right to modify tier limits and features. We will provide reasonable advance notice of material changes that reduce the features available to existing subscribers.

• Premium subscriptions are billed monthly at $7.99 through Stripe.
• Your subscription automatically renews each month unless you cancel before the end of the current billing period.
• You can cancel your subscription at any time from Settings > Subscription in the app. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you will retain Premium access until then.
• We do not offer refunds for partial months. If you believe you were charged in error, contact us at support@edeapp.com.
• Pricing changes will take effect at the start of your next billing period after we notify you of the change.

You agree not to:

• Use Èdè for any unlawful purpose
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract the source code of the app
• Interfere with or disrupt the service or servers
• Share your account credentials with others
• Use automated tools or bots to access the service
• Attempt to bypass daily usage limits through technical means

Violation of these rules may result in suspension or termination of your account without refund.

All content in Èdè — including but not limited to lessons, vocabulary, audio recordings, illustrations, and the app's design — is owned by Èdè or licensed to us. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from this content without our written permission.

The Èdè name, wordmark, and associated brand elements are our property. You may not use them without prior written consent.

Èdè uses AI to provide conversation practice and pronunciation feedback. AI responses are generated automatically and may occasionally contain errors, inaccuracies, or content that does not reflect standard Yoruba usage.

AI-generated content does not constitute professional language instruction, certified translation services, or cultural consultation. Use your own judgment when applying what you learn.

We continuously work to improve the accuracy of our AI features, but we cannot guarantee that all AI-generated content will be free of errors.

When you use speaking practice features, your voice recordings are processed by our servers. By using these features, you grant us the right to process your recordings for the purpose of providing pronunciation scoring.

We do not use your recordings for any other purpose, including training AI models on your personal voice data, without your explicit consent.

You retain ownership of any content you create within the app. Deleting your account removes this content from our systems within 30 days.

Èdè is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that pronunciation scores will be perfectly accurate. Yoruba language content in the app is for educational purposes and may not reflect all regional variations or dialects.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Èdè and its creators, officers, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the app — including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profits, or business interruption.

Our total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of the app shall not exceed the total amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time. We will provide reasonable notice of significant changes through the app or by email.

Pricing changes for Premium subscriptions will take effect at the start of your next billing period after we notify you. If you do not agree to a pricing change, you may cancel your subscription before the new price takes effect.

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms of Service. We will make reasonable efforts to notify you before taking action, except in cases of severe or repeated violations.

You may delete your account at any time from Settings in the app. Upon termination, your right to use the app ceases and your data will be deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination — including Intellectual Property, Disclaimer of Warranties, and Limitation of Liability — will continue to apply after termination.

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from or relating to these Terms or your use of Èdè shall be resolved in the courts of the state in which the app's operator resides.

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full effect.
